How to Report a Hacked Facebook Account

A compromised Facebook account can leave you and those on your friends list vulnerable to a variety of problems, including identity theft, spam and malicious messages. Therefore, it is important to immediately report it when your account has been accessed by an unauthorized person or entity.


Step 1

If you received an email from Facebook with the subject of "Facebook Contact Email Change Notification," notifying you of an email address change that you did not authorize, follow the instructions in that email to undo the attempt to change the email address associated with your account.

Step 2

If you have not received an email from Facebook or can't access your email, navigate to the form titled "My account has been compromised and my login email has been changed." A link to this form is in the Resources section of this article.

Step 3

Change your password immediately once your Facebook account has been brought back under your own control.
